Frenchs Forest is the nearest part of our patch to the End Point Electrical base in Terrey Hills. Frenchs Forest: 1960s and 1970s homes on bigger blocks

Much of Frenchs Forest was built out in the 1960s and 1970s with single-level brick and weatherboard homes on large blocks. Plenty still have the original switchboard, sometimes with ceramic fuses on a panel that may contain asbestos. Replacing that board with circuit breakers and RCD protection is a typical first job in these houses, and it clears the way for whatever the owners want to add next.

Families have been adding second storeys and rear extensions for decades, and the bigger blocks leave room for a double garage, which makes an EV charger easy to place. Up on the plateau, away from the sea breeze, summer days run warmer than on the coast, so ducted and split air conditioning is common, and each system needs a circuit sized for it. The business park brings some commercial maintenance work as well.

Typical jobs

Typical Jobs in Frenchs Forest

What the work usually involves, how long it takes and what you are left with when we pack up.

  • Switchboard upgrade

Original Frenchs Forest boards with ceramic fuses, replaced with breakers and RCDs.

The board we usually replace is an older one with ceramic fuses, or with only one or two safety switches (RCDs). It comes out and a new board goes in with circuit breakers and RCD protection on the circuits. We size it with spare room for later additions like air conditioning or an EV charger. Expect the power to be off for most of the job.

    Usual time on site
    4 to 6 hours
    You end up with
A labelled switchboard with tested RCD protection and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW)
    More on switchboard upgrade
  • Home EV charger

Chargers in double garages on the bigger Frenchs Forest blocks, after we check the board for capacity.

A home EV charger usually goes on a garage or carport wall, on its own circuit from the switchboard. We check the board has capacity first and help you pick a charger that suits your car and how far you drive. If you have solar, we can set the charger up to use daytime generation. Load management on the charger helps when the board is close to its limit.

    Usual time on site
    2 to 4 hours
    You end up with
A tested charger on a dedicated circuit and a CCEW
    More on home ev charger
  • Air conditioning circuit

Dedicated circuits for split and ducted systems in homes on the warmer plateau.

Most heating and cooling work starts at the switchboard. A split system or ducted unit needs its own circuit and an isolator at the outdoor unit, sized for what the system draws, and older boards often need upgrading first. We wire for brands such as Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric. Electric underfloor heating in bathrooms is another regular job.

    You end up with
A dedicated, tested circuit for the system and a CCEW
    More on air conditioning circuit

“Andrew and Jake have been amazing and professional to work with. They've fixed power points and replaced light fittings at my place. I've since recommended them to both my parents and grandparents where a fuse box upgrade has been completed for my fathers place and an oven install along with lighting and ceiling fans for my grandmother. Both have had nothing but positive things to say. Would highly recommend!”

“I recently completed a major renovation on my home where we essentially rebuilt it stage by stage, eventually tripling the size of the house. Endpoint Electrical wired the entire project and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Our build was a little unconventional compared to a standard new build, as we were living in the house the whole time. This meant the electrical work had to constantly adapt — thinking about both the present and the future, with some areas not even built yet while others were scheduled to be removed later on. Despite the challenges, the team handled everything professionally and thoughtfully. They are exceptional at what they do, very easy to communicate with, can think out of the box and all round a top blokes. I use them when ever I can and recommend to all.”

“Andy, Jake and their team were fantastic. Great communication, showed up when they said they would and with all materials there. They adapted smoothly to my atypical problems and their attention to detail was outstanding. Their work is so neat and tidy I asked them to back to tidy up a previous electrician's messy cabling. I've recommended End Point to multiple friends already and will keep coming back.”

Frenchs Forest Electrician FAQs

Is Frenchs Forest close to your base?

Yes. We are based in Terrey Hills, and Frenchs Forest is the closest part of our service area. Our hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Ring 0478 045 154 during those hours, or send the job through the contact form at any time and we will come back to you to arrange a visit.

My Frenchs Forest house still has ceramic fuses. Should I upgrade?

Ceramic fuses protect the cable from overload, but they do nothing to protect people from electric shock. That is the job of a safety switch (RCD). If you are adding air conditioning or an EV charger, an old fuse board usually needs replacing anyway. A switchboard upgrade takes 4 to 6 hours and finishes with a CCEW.

Can my switchboard handle ducted air conditioning and an EV charger together?

It depends on the board and the supply to the house. Many Frenchs Forest homes run on single-phase power with an older board, so we check the main switch rating and the spare space first. Sometimes both fit after a board upgrade. Sometimes a charger with load management is the better answer.
