Electrical for New Builds and Renovations

Get the sparky in before the walls close up. We plan the lighting and power with you and your builder, so every cable goes in at rough-in while the frame is still open.

Get the Sparky in Before the Walls Close Up

End Point Electrical built its name wiring new homes through builder partnerships, and we bring the same approach to renovations. The best time to call us is before the frame gets lined.

With the walls open, cable runs straight through the frames and ceiling cavities. On the Collaroy renovation we photographed every bracket and cable run at rough-in, so fit-off landed in the right spots on the finished surfaces.

Plans still change. When the Collaroy owners added an induction cooktop late in the job, the switchboard already had 30% spare capacity, and we threaded the new circuit through finished walls without opening them. At Wingello we returned after handover to add exterior lighting through finished cladding.

What We Handle at Each Stage of the Build

From the first layout to handover, one team looks after the electrical side of your build or renovation.

  • Plan

Lighting and power layouts drawn room by room from your architectural plans, even when there is no electrical design to start from.

  • Site Power and Mains

Temporary power for the builders, and new mains coordinated where a site has no supply.

  • Rough-In

Cabling through open wall frames and ceiling cavities, with every bracket and cable run photographed for fit-off.

  • Switchboard Sizing

Boards designed around the total property load, with room for what you add later.

  • Fit-Off

Switches, power points, downlights and external lighting installed once the surfaces are finished.

  • Testing and Handover

Every circuit and safety switch tested, with compliance documentation at handover.

Wingello: Bare Land to Two Powered Dwellings

The owner came to us with architectural drawings and no lighting plans, on a site with no power at all. Over 18 months we designed and wired a main house and granny flat in the Southern Highlands, travelling from Sydney for the job.

Typical job

What typical new build and renovation wiring looks like

We start from your plans and draw the lighting and power layout room by room. Cable goes in at rough-in while the frame is open, with each run photographed, and fit-off happens once the surfaces are finished. We work to the builder’s program and size the switchboard for what you plan to add later, so a late change rarely means opening walls.

You end up with
Every circuit and safety switch tested, with a CCEW at handover
  1. Lighting and power layout drawn from your plans
  2. Rough-in while the frame is open
  3. Fit-off after linings and paint
  4. Every circuit tested before handover

“I recently completed a major renovation on my home where we essentially rebuilt it stage by stage, eventually tripling the size of the house. Endpoint Electrical wired the entire project and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Our build was a little unconventional compared to a standard new build, as we were living in the house the whole time. This meant the electrical work had to constantly adapt — thinking about both the present and the future, with some areas not even built yet while others were scheduled to be removed later on. Despite the challenges, the team handled everything professionally and thoughtfully. They are exceptional at what they do, very easy to communicate with, can think out of the box and all round a top blokes. I use them when ever I can and recommend to all.”

“Couldn’t recommend them higher! I was doing renovations on my house and I got the boys from end point electrical to come in. From the get go it was so easy they looked at my property gave me a quote and the price was very reasonable. They got it done with no issues and their customer service was amazing! They updated me when I needed to be. The quality of the work was amazing! They were great blokes to deal with. If you’re looking for the best couldn’t recommend them any higher! Would also have a beer with them!”

“Andrew and Jake have been amazing and professional to work with. They've fixed power points and replaced light fittings at my place. I've since recommended them to both my parents and grandparents where a fuse box upgrade has been completed for my fathers place and an oven install along with lighting and ceiling fans for my grandmother. Both have had nothing but positive things to say. Would highly recommend!”

“Andy, Jake and their team were fantastic. Great communication, showed up when they said they would and with all materials there. They adapted smoothly to my atypical problems and their attention to detail was outstanding. Their work is so neat and tidy I asked them to back to tidy up a previous electrician's messy cabling. I've recommended End Point to multiple friends already and will keep coming back.”

New Builds and Renovations FAQs

When should I bring an electrician into a new build?

As early as you can, ideally while the plans are still on the table. We can draw the lighting and power layouts from architectural drawings, as we did at Wingello where there was no electrical design at all. That way the cabling goes in at rough-in, before the walls close up.

Do you work with my builder?

Yes. End Point Electrical built its name on new homes through builder partnerships, and we coordinate with the builder and the other trades on site. At Wingello that meant hydronic heating contractors, solar installers, plumbers and landscapers. At Collaroy it meant two different builders over six months.

Can you rewire a house during a renovation?

Yes. When the walls came open at Collaroy they showed an asbestos switchboard and non-compliant wiring. We disconnected the old board and set up temporary power for the builders. Then we rewired the five-bedroom home to AS/NZS 3000:2018 and tested every circuit before handover.

Can you add lights or power after the walls are finished?

Yes, though it takes more work than doing it at rough-in. At Collaroy we threaded a late induction cooktop circuit through completed walls without opening them up. At Wingello we came back after handover and added exterior lighting through finished cladding and painted walls without damage.
