Your Hornsby Electrician
Hornsby homeowners can book End Point Electrical, a licensed team based in Terrey Hills. Much of Hornsby was built between the 1950s and 1970s, so typical jobs are replacing original switchboards and adding circuits for split systems through the hot summers. Hornsby: post-war homes through hot summers
Hornsby housing is mostly post-war brick and fibro homes from the 1950s to the 1970s, many on sloping blocks that back onto bushland. Original switchboards in these houses were often mounted on panels that may contain asbestos. We do not drill or cut them; when the board needs work, it is replaced whole, and we arrange for the old panel to be removed safely by people licensed to handle it. Long cable runs to a granny flat or a shed down the slope are another regular job.
Sitting further inland and higher than the coast, Hornsby gets hot summers. Split systems in bedrooms are common, and each one needs a circuit that an old board may not have room for. Around the station, newer apartment blocks have changed the mix, bringing unit owners who want a ceiling fan or better lighting in an otherwise standard unit.
Typical jobs
Typical Jobs in Hornsby
What the work usually involves, how long it takes and what you are left with when we pack up.
Air conditioning circuit
Circuits for split systems in Hornsby bedrooms and living areas, sized for long hot summers.
Most heating and cooling work starts at the switchboard. A split system or ducted unit needs its own circuit and an isolator at the outdoor unit, sized for what the system draws, and older boards often need upgrading first. We wire for brands such as Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric. Electric underfloor heating in bathrooms is another regular job.
- You end up with
- A dedicated, tested circuit for the system and a CCEW
Switchboard upgrade
Old Hornsby boards on panels that may contain asbestos, replaced whole with a new board and RCDs.
The board we usually replace is an older one with ceramic fuses, or with only one or two safety switches (RCDs). It comes out and a new board goes in with circuit breakers and RCD protection on the circuits. We size it with spare room for later additions like air conditioning or an EV charger. Expect the power to be off for most of the job.
- Usual time on site
- 4 to 6 hours
- You end up with
- A labelled switchboard with tested RCD protection and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW)
Fan install
Ceiling fans for Hornsby units and older homes, often fitted to an existing light point.
Typical fan jobs are a ceiling fan going in where an old light was, or a tired bathroom exhaust fan swapped for a stronger one ducted to the outside. Heat lamp and fan combos suit bathrooms that stay cold in winter. If you want a new wall control or a separate switch for the fan, we run that cable on the same visit.
- Usual time on site
- 1 to 2 hours
- You end up with
- A balanced, quiet fan on its own control, with a CCEW for the installation

What Our Clients Say About End Point Electrical
5.0 from 14 Google reviews- Rated 5 out of 5
“Andrew and Jake have been amazing and professional to work with. They've fixed power points and replaced light fittings at my place. I've since recommended them to both my parents and grandparents where a fuse box upgrade has been completed for my fathers place and an oven install along with lighting and ceiling fans for my grandmother. Both have had nothing but positive things to say. Would highly recommend!”

“I recently completed a major renovation on my home where we essentially rebuilt it stage by stage, eventually tripling the size of the house. Endpoint Electrical wired the entire project and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Our build was a little unconventional compared to a standard new build, as we were living in the house the whole time. This meant the electrical work had to constantly adapt — thinking about both the present and the future, with some areas not even built yet while others were scheduled to be removed later on. Despite the challenges, the team handled everything professionally and thoughtfully. They are exceptional at what they do, very easy to communicate with, can think out of the box and all round a top blokes. I use them when ever I can and recommend to all.”

“Andy, Jake and their team were fantastic. Great communication, showed up when they said they would and with all materials there. They adapted smoothly to my atypical problems and their attention to detail was outstanding. Their work is so neat and tidy I asked them to back to tidy up a previous electrician's messy cabling. I've recommended End Point to multiple friends already and will keep coming back.”

Hornsby Electrician FAQs
My Hornsby switchboard sits on an old fibre-cement panel. Is that a problem?
Boards from the 1950s to the 1970s were often mounted on panels that may contain asbestos. Undisturbed, they are generally low risk, but nobody should drill or cut them. When the board needs work we fit a new enclosure and arrange for the old panel to be removed safely by people licensed to handle it. A board change usually takes 4 to 6 hours.
Can you run power to a granny flat or studio on my Hornsby block?
Yes. A detached building needs a submain from the main switchboard, sized for the load and the distance, plus its own small board with RCD protection. On sloping Hornsby blocks the cable route matters, so we look at trenching and conduit options before quoting. A granny flat may also need its own meter.
How many split systems can my Hornsby house run?
It depends on the supply to the house and how much spare room the board has. Many older Hornsby homes were built with small boards and no cooling in mind. We add up the total load before adding circuits, and if the board is full we explain what an upgrade involves before you commit.
