Eastwood: rebuilds among post-war brick homes, and a busy shopping strip

Eastwood's house streets mix post-war brick homes on good-sized blocks with the large new houses and duplexes replacing many of them. The older homes often still have the board they were built with, and owners usually upgrade it before adding air conditioning. In the rebuilds, ducted systems are common, and we work out the circuit with the air conditioning installer before the plaster goes up.

Around the station, the town centre is packed with small shops and restaurants, many with a flat or office above. Tenancies change often, and a new business may need extra circuits for kitchen equipment or a refit of the shop lighting. Some owners are also replacing old electric storage hot water with a heat pump, which needs its own circuit and sometimes a change to how the supply is metered.

Typical jobs

Typical Jobs in Eastwood

What the work usually involves, how long it takes and what you are left with when we pack up.

  • Air conditioning circuit

Circuits for ducted systems in new Eastwood homes, agreed with the air conditioning installer before the plaster goes on.

Most heating and cooling work starts at the switchboard. A split system or ducted unit needs its own circuit and an isolator at the outdoor unit, sized for what the system draws, and older boards often need upgrading first. We wire for brands such as Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric. Electric underfloor heating in bathrooms is another regular job.

    You end up with
A dedicated, tested circuit for the system and a CCEW
    More on air conditioning circuit
  • Commercial fit-out and maintenance

Power for kitchen equipment and shop lighting when a new business moves into an Eastwood shopfront.

Commercial work is mostly power and lighting for office and shop fit-outs, plus the emergency and exit lights that need regular testing. In a larger building we arrange access and any shutdowns with the building manager. Noisy or power-off work is planned around your trading hours where possible, and the switchboard schedule is updated when we finish.

    You end up with
Tested circuits with an updated switchboard schedule, plus a CCEW
More on commercial fit-out and maintenance
  • Switchboard upgrade

Original boards in post-war Eastwood brick homes, upgraded before air conditioning is added.

The board we usually replace is an older one with ceramic fuses, or with only one or two safety switches (RCDs). It comes out and a new board goes in with circuit breakers and RCD protection on the circuits. We size it with spare room for later additions like air conditioning or an EV charger. Expect the power to be off for most of the job.

    Usual time on site
    4 to 6 hours
    You end up with
A labelled switchboard with tested RCD protection and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW)
    More on switchboard upgrade

“Andrew and Jake have been amazing and professional to work with. They've fixed power points and replaced light fittings at my place. I've since recommended them to both my parents and grandparents where a fuse box upgrade has been completed for my fathers place and an oven install along with lighting and ceiling fans for my grandmother. Both have had nothing but positive things to say. Would highly recommend!”

“I recently completed a major renovation on my home where we essentially rebuilt it stage by stage, eventually tripling the size of the house. Endpoint Electrical wired the entire project and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Our build was a little unconventional compared to a standard new build, as we were living in the house the whole time. This meant the electrical work had to constantly adapt — thinking about both the present and the future, with some areas not even built yet while others were scheduled to be removed later on. Despite the challenges, the team handled everything professionally and thoughtfully. They are exceptional at what they do, very easy to communicate with, can think out of the box and all round a top blokes. I use them when ever I can and recommend to all.”

“Andy, Jake and their team were fantastic. Great communication, showed up when they said they would and with all materials there. They adapted smoothly to my atypical problems and their attention to detail was outstanding. Their work is so neat and tidy I asked them to back to tidy up a previous electrician's messy cabling. I've recommended End Point to multiple friends already and will keep coming back.”

Eastwood Electrician FAQs

We are opening a restaurant in an Eastwood shopfront. What electrical work might it need?

Commercial kitchens often need more circuits than the last tenant used, sometimes three-phase for cooking equipment. We check the board and the supply to the shop against your equipment list, then plan the circuits and lighting. Where the supply is too small, we explain what an upgrade involves. Send us the equipment list before you sign the lease if you can.

Can you wire a heat pump hot water system in my Eastwood house?

Yes. A heat pump replacing an old electric storage tank usually needs its circuit checked, and sometimes replaced, to suit it. If the old tank ran on a controlled load tariff, ask your retailer whether the heat pump can stay on it, since some models need power at other times of day. We handle the electrical connection while the plumber installs the unit.

How do you work with the air conditioning installer on a new Eastwood home?

We agree the unit sizes and positions with the installer early, then run the circuit and isolator at rough-in so the system is ready to connect once it arrives. Large ducted systems can need heavier cable than expected, so we size the switchboard for it from the start. Brands we wire for include Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric.
