Electrical work for Lane Cove apartment owners and for the older houses on the leafy streets running down to the river.
Your Lane Cove Electrician
End Point Electrical takes Lane Cove jobs from Terrey Hills, a run across the North Shore for our licensed team. Apartments make up a big share of the suburb, so typical work is a circuit for a new split system or brighter lighting under a concrete ceiling. In the houses towards the river, worn and overloaded switchboards come up often. Phone 0478 045 154. NSW contractor licence 397311C.

Lane Cove: apartment blocks and leafy streets down to the river
Lane Cove has a large stock of apartments, from 1960s and 1970s brick walk-ups to the newer buildings around the town centre. Two requests come up again and again. Owners want cooling, and a split system in a unit needs its own circuit from the unit board plus the owners corporation's say on where the outdoor unit sits. Owners also want better light, which takes some thought when the ceiling is a concrete slab with no cavity for downlights.
The house streets slope down through the trees towards the Lane Cove River. Many homes there are interwar bungalows or post-war brick houses, some reworked more than once, and their boards often show it, with every slot taken and protection that varies from circuit to circuit. Before a renovation adds a kitchen or air conditioning, we usually suggest sorting the board out first.
Typical jobs
Typical Jobs in Lane Cove
What the work usually involves, how long it takes and what you are left with when we pack up.
Air conditioning circuit
Circuits and isolators for split systems in Lane Cove apartments and houses, with the outdoor unit placed where strata or the slope allows.
Most heating and cooling work starts at the switchboard. A split system or ducted unit needs its own circuit and an isolator at the outdoor unit, sized for what the system draws, and older boards often need upgrading first. We wire for brands such as Daikin and Mitsubishi Electric. Electric underfloor heating in bathrooms is another regular job.
- You end up with
- A dedicated, tested circuit for the system and a CCEW
Lighting upgrade
Surface-mounted LED fittings for Lane Cove units where a concrete slab rules out recessed downlights.
Plenty of lighting jobs start with old halogen downlights coming out in favour of LED. Others add lights to a renovated room or light a path and garden for the evenings. We agree the layout and the switching with you first, so the lights land where you need them. Then we fit them and set up dimmers in the rooms where you want softer light.
- Usual time on site
- 1 to 3 hours
- You end up with
- Working lights on the switching you asked for, with a CCEW for the installation work
Switchboard upgrade
Full boards in Lane Cove bungalows swapped for a larger one with RCD protection and spare slots for cooling.
The board we usually replace is an older one with ceramic fuses, or with only one or two safety switches (RCDs). It comes out and a new board goes in with circuit breakers and RCD protection on the circuits. We size it with spare room for later additions like air conditioning or an EV charger. Expect the power to be off for most of the job.
- Usual time on site
- 4 to 6 hours
- You end up with
- A labelled switchboard with tested RCD protection and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW)

What Our Clients Say About End Point Electrical

“Andrew and Jake have been amazing and professional to work with. They've fixed power points and replaced light fittings at my place. I've since recommended them to both my parents and grandparents where a fuse box upgrade has been completed for my fathers place and an oven install along with lighting and ceiling fans for my grandmother. Both have had nothing but positive things to say. Would highly recommend!”

“I recently completed a major renovation on my home where we essentially rebuilt it stage by stage, eventually tripling the size of the house. Endpoint Electrical wired the entire project and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Our build was a little unconventional compared to a standard new build, as we were living in the house the whole time. This meant the electrical work had to constantly adapt — thinking about both the present and the future, with some areas not even built yet while others were scheduled to be removed later on. Despite the challenges, the team handled everything professionally and thoughtfully. They are exceptional at what they do, very easy to communicate with, can think out of the box and all round a top blokes. I use them when ever I can and recommend to all.”

“Andy, Jake and their team were fantastic. Great communication, showed up when they said they would and with all materials there. They adapted smoothly to my atypical problems and their attention to detail was outstanding. Their work is so neat and tidy I asked them to back to tidy up a previous electrician's messy cabling. I've recommended End Point to multiple friends already and will keep coming back.”

Lane Cove Electrician FAQs
Can I put a split system in my Lane Cove apartment?
Usually, but the owners corporation decides where the outdoor unit can go, so ask the strata manager before buying anything. Electrically, the system needs its own circuit from your unit board and an isolator beside the outdoor unit. We check the board has a free slot and that the cable can reach the balcony or whichever spot the strata approves.
Why are downlights hard to fit in my Lane Cove unit?
Many apartment ceilings are the concrete slab of the floor above, so there is no cavity to recess a light into. The usual answer is slim surface-mounted LED fittings run from the existing light point. Where you want recessed lights, a lowered plasterboard bulkhead can create the space. We look at your ceiling and show you what will work before quoting.
Nobody knows which breaker does what in our Lane Cove house. Can you sort out the labels?
Yes. We test each circuit to trace what it feeds, then label the board so the next person can find the right breaker fast. On older boards this often turns up oddities, such as one circuit feeding rooms at opposite ends of the house. We tell you about anything that needs fixing and leave you a written schedule of the circuits.
