Pennant Hills: post-war brick homes and townhouses by the line

Pennant Hills is mostly post-war brick houses on established blocks, with a band of townhouses and units near the station. Plenty of the houses still run on the board they were built with, or one patched up decades ago. Replacing it is often the first job a new owner books, and because the power is off for most of the day, it pays to plan around the fridge and anyone working from home.

Working from home has changed what owners ask for. The NBN connection often arrived wherever the installer found easiest, sometimes a front bedroom or the garage, while the study is at the other end of the house. We run cable from the network point to the rooms that need it, or move the router to a central spot. Townhouses bring a different request: fans for rooms where the ceiling height leaves little clearance.

Typical jobs

Typical Jobs in Pennant Hills

What the work usually involves, how long it takes and what you are left with when we pack up.

  • Switchboard upgrade

Original or patched-up boards in Pennant Hills brick homes, replaced in a day with the power-off window planned ahead.

The board we usually replace is an older one with ceramic fuses, or with only one or two safety switches (RCDs). It comes out and a new board goes in with circuit breakers and RCD protection on the circuits. We size it with spare room for later additions like air conditioning or an EV charger. Expect the power to be off for most of the job.

    Usual time on site
    4 to 6 hours
    You end up with
A labelled switchboard with tested RCD protection and a Certificate of Compliance for Electrical Work (CCEW)

  • Data points and Wi-Fi

Network cabling from the NBN point to the study and the TV in Pennant Hills homes, with the router moved somewhere central.

A typical data job adds wired points to the rooms that need a steady connection, such as a home office or the wall behind the TV. Every cable runs back to one spot near the NBN connection, where the network gear lives. Where Wi-Fi drops out, we mount access points on the ceiling and feed them by cable. Each point is tested and labelled.

  • Fan install

Low-profile ceiling fans for Pennant Hills townhouses where the ceiling height is tight.

Typical fan jobs are a ceiling fan going in where an old light was, or a tired bathroom exhaust fan swapped for a stronger one ducted to the outside. Heat lamp and fan combos suit bathrooms that stay cold in winter. If you want a new wall control or a separate switch for the fan, we run that cable on the same visit.

    Usual time on site
    1 to 2 hours
    You end up with
A balanced, quiet fan on its own control, with a CCEW for the installation

What Our Clients Say About End Point Electrical

“Andrew and Jake have been amazing and professional to work with. They've fixed power points and replaced light fittings at my place. I've since recommended them to both my parents and grandparents where a fuse box upgrade has been completed for my fathers place and an oven install along with lighting and ceiling fans for my grandmother. Both have had nothing but positive things to say. Would highly recommend!”

“I recently completed a major renovation on my home where we essentially rebuilt it stage by stage, eventually tripling the size of the house. Endpoint Electrical wired the entire project and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Our build was a little unconventional compared to a standard new build, as we were living in the house the whole time. This meant the electrical work had to constantly adapt — thinking about both the present and the future, with some areas not even built yet while others were scheduled to be removed later on. Despite the challenges, the team handled everything professionally and thoughtfully. They are exceptional at what they do, very easy to communicate with, can think out of the box and all round a top blokes. I use them when ever I can and recommend to all.”

“Andy, Jake and their team were fantastic. Great communication, showed up when they said they would and with all materials there. They adapted smoothly to my atypical problems and their attention to detail was outstanding. Their work is so neat and tidy I asked them to back to tidy up a previous electrician's messy cabling. I've recommended End Point to multiple friends already and will keep coming back.”

Pennant Hills Electrician FAQs

What happens on the day you replace a switchboard in Pennant Hills?

We isolate the supply and swap the old board for the new one, then test and label every circuit before turning the power back on. Expect the power to be off for most of the job, which takes 4 to 6 hours. Keep the fridge closed, and tell us about medical equipment or home office needs so we can plan the start time.

Can you move the NBN box to a better spot in my Pennant Hills house?

The NBN connection box itself is NBN Co equipment, so we leave it where it is. What we can do is run cable from it to a central cupboard or the study, where the router can live, then run wired points from there to the rooms that need a steady connection. In most houses the cable goes through the roof space or subfloor.

Can I have a ceiling fan in a Pennant Hills townhouse with low ceilings?

Often, yes. The wiring rules call for fan blades to sit at least 2.1 metres above the floor, so with a standard 2.4 metre ceiling a close-mount or hugger fan is the usual choice. We measure the room first, then fit the fan to the existing light point where possible. A fan install takes 1 to 2 hours.
