Mona Vale: family homes with pools in the coastal damp
Most of Mona Vale is detached houses on generous blocks, from 1960s brick homes to recent knock-down rebuilds. A backyard pool is common, and older pool equipment is often plugged into a weathered outdoor power point. We move it onto its own protected circuit and add lighting around the pool that suits a wet, salty spot.
Rebuilds and big renovations make up a steady share of Mona Vale work, and we like to see the drawings before the builder starts. Bathrooms near the beach are another theme. Steam plus damp sea air makes ceiling mould a regular complaint, and the usual cause is an exhaust fan that is too weak or vents into the roof cavity. Replacing it with a stronger fan ducted outside clears the air. Garden and driveway lighting often comes up on the larger blocks.
Typical jobs
Typical Jobs in Mona Vale
What the work usually involves, how long it takes and what you are left with when we pack up.
Build or renovation wiring
Knock-down rebuilds and large Mona Vale renovations, planned with your builder from the drawings.
We start from your plans and draw the lighting and power layout room by room. Cable goes in at rough-in while the frame is open, with each run photographed, and fit-off happens once the surfaces are finished. We work to the builder’s program and size the switchboard for what you plan to add later, so a late change rarely means opening walls.
- You end up with
- Every circuit and safety switch tested, with a CCEW at handover
Fan install
Bathroom exhaust fans ducted to the outside, for Mona Vale homes where steam and sea air bring on mould.
Typical fan jobs are a ceiling fan going in where an old light was, or a tired bathroom exhaust fan swapped for a stronger one ducted to the outside. Heat lamp and fan combos suit bathrooms that stay cold in winter. If you want a new wall control or a separate switch for the fan, we run that cable on the same visit.
- Usual time on site
- 1 to 2 hours
- You end up with
- A balanced, quiet fan on its own control, with a CCEW for the installation
Lighting upgrade
Pool surrounds and garden paths lit with fittings rated for wet, salty conditions.
Plenty of lighting jobs start with old halogen downlights coming out in favour of LED. Others add lights to a renovated room or light a path and garden for the evenings. We agree the layout and the switching with you first, so the lights land where you need them. Then we fit them and set up dimmers in the rooms where you want softer light.
- Usual time on site
- 1 to 3 hours
- You end up with
- Working lights on the switching you asked for, with a CCEW for the installation work

What Our Clients Say About End Point Electrical

“I recently completed a major renovation on my home where we essentially rebuilt it stage by stage, eventually tripling the size of the house. Endpoint Electrical wired the entire project and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Our build was a little unconventional compared to a standard new build, as we were living in the house the whole time. This meant the electrical work had to constantly adapt — thinking about both the present and the future, with some areas not even built yet while others were scheduled to be removed later on. Despite the challenges, the team handled everything professionally and thoughtfully. They are exceptional at what they do, very easy to communicate with, can think out of the box and all round a top blokes. I use them when ever I can and recommend to all.”

“Andrew and Jake have been amazing and professional to work with. They've fixed power points and replaced light fittings at my place. I've since recommended them to both my parents and grandparents where a fuse box upgrade has been completed for my fathers place and an oven install along with lighting and ceiling fans for my grandmother. Both have had nothing but positive things to say. Would highly recommend!”

“Andy, Jake and their team were fantastic. Great communication, showed up when they said they would and with all materials there. They adapted smoothly to my atypical problems and their attention to detail was outstanding. Their work is so neat and tidy I asked them to back to tidy up a previous electrician's messy cabling. I've recommended End Point to multiple friends already and will keep coming back.”

Mona Vale Electrician FAQs
What electrical work does a pool in Mona Vale usually need?
Pool equipment such as the pump and chlorinator should run on protected power, ideally a dedicated circuit with an RCD rather than an old outdoor power point. Anything near the water has to meet the pool zone rules in AS/NZS 3000. We also look at lighting around the pool and any timers you want on the equipment.
We are knocking down and rebuilding in Mona Vale. When should we call an electrician?
Once you have drawings, even before the builder is locked in. We can draw the lighting and power layout from the architectural plans and size the switchboard for a pool or an EV charger. The cabling then goes in at rough-in while the frame is open, which takes far less work than adding it after the linings are up.
Why is there mould on the bathroom ceiling in my Mona Vale house?
Usually the exhaust fan is undersized or it vents into the roof space, so warm wet air never leaves. Damp coastal air makes it worse. A stronger fan ducted through the roof or wall, on its own switch or a humidity sensor, clears steam much better. Most fan installs take 1 to 2 hours.
