Electrician in St Ives

Ceiling fans and rebuild wiring for St Ives family homes, along Mona Vale Road from our base.

Your St Ives Electrician

St Ives sits along Mona Vale Road from the End Point Electrical base in Terrey Hills. Its family homes from the 1960s to the 1980s typically need ceiling fans, often on raked living room ceilings, and the knock-down rebuilds going up across the suburb need wiring from slab to fit-off. Chargers in double garages are common too. Call 0478 045 154. NSW licence 397311C.

St Ives: 1970s family homes and the rebuilds replacing them

Much of St Ives was built in the 1960s and 1970s as single and split-level brick homes on large blocks, many with raked timber or plasterboard ceilings over the living areas. Owners keep asking for ceiling fans in those rooms. A raked ceiling takes a fan with an angled mount and a longer downrod, so the blades hang level and clear of the slope.

The other big theme is replacement. A steady number of older St Ives houses are being knocked down for larger two-storey homes, and some blocks are being developed as dual occupancy. New homes suit how we started, wiring builds alongside builders, and we like to see the plans before the slab goes down. Families moving into a rebuild often want an EV charger in the garage, which is far easier to plan for at the drawing stage.

Typical jobs

Typical Jobs in St Ives

What the work usually involves, how long it takes and what you are left with when we pack up.

  • Fan install

Ceiling fans on raked St Ives living room ceilings, fitted with angled mounts so the blades sit level.

Typical fan jobs are a ceiling fan going in where an old light was, or a tired bathroom exhaust fan swapped for a stronger one ducted to the outside. Heat lamp and fan combos suit bathrooms that stay cold in winter. If you want a new wall control or a separate switch for the fan, we run that cable on the same visit.

    Usual time on site
    1 to 2 hours
    You end up with
A balanced, quiet fan on its own control, with a CCEW for the installation
    More on fan install
  • Build or renovation wiring

Wiring for St Ives knock-down rebuilds and dual occupancy builds, from the plans through to fit-off.

We start from your plans and draw the lighting and power layout room by room. Cable goes in at rough-in while the frame is open, with each run photographed, and fit-off happens once the surfaces are finished. We work to the builder’s program and size the switchboard for what you plan to add later, so a late change rarely means opening walls.

    You end up with
Every circuit and safety switch tested, with a CCEW at handover
More on build or renovation wiring
  • Home EV charger

Charger circuits planned into St Ives rebuilds, or added to the garage of an existing home.

A home EV charger usually goes on a garage or carport wall, on its own circuit from the switchboard. We check the board has capacity first and help you pick a charger that suits your car and how far you drive. If you have solar, we can set the charger up to use daytime generation. Load management on the charger helps when the board is close to its limit.

    Usual time on site
    2 to 4 hours
    You end up with
A tested charger on a dedicated circuit and a CCEW
    More on home ev charger

What Our Clients Say About End Point Electrical

“I recently completed a major renovation on my home where we essentially rebuilt it stage by stage, eventually tripling the size of the house. Endpoint Electrical wired the entire project and were fantastic to work with from start to finish. Our build was a little unconventional compared to a standard new build, as we were living in the house the whole time. This meant the electrical work had to constantly adapt — thinking about both the present and the future, with some areas not even built yet while others were scheduled to be removed later on. Despite the challenges, the team handled everything professionally and thoughtfully. They are exceptional at what they do, very easy to communicate with, can think out of the box and all round a top blokes. I use them when ever I can and recommend to all.”

“Andrew and Jake have been amazing and professional to work with. They've fixed power points and replaced light fittings at my place. I've since recommended them to both my parents and grandparents where a fuse box upgrade has been completed for my fathers place and an oven install along with lighting and ceiling fans for my grandmother. Both have had nothing but positive things to say. Would highly recommend!”

St Ives Electrician FAQs

Can a ceiling fan go on the raked ceiling in my St Ives living room?

Usually, yes. Most fans can take a sloped-ceiling mount and a longer downrod so they hang straight and the blades clear the ceiling. We check the pitch and find a solid fixing point in the roof framing first. If there is no power at the spot, we run new cable from the nearest light. A fan install typically takes 1 to 2 hours.

Should we ask for three-phase power on our St Ives rebuild?

It is worth discussing if you plan several large loads, such as ducted air conditioning alongside a fast EV charger. Three-phase is arranged with the network provider and costs more to connect, so it suits some homes and not others. We look at your planned loads with you and your builder before the supply application goes in.

We are building a dual occupancy in St Ives. Does each home need its own meter?

In most cases each dwelling gets its own meter and switchboard so the power is billed separately, and the supply arrangement has to be approved by the network provider. We work out the meter positions and the supply route with your builder early, since they affect where the pits and conduits go on the site.
